This series uses material from the Great Schools of Dune trilogy by Brian Herbert and Kevin J
Two Harkonnen sisters battle forces that threaten the future of humanity and establish the legendary sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are what science fiction is all about. Anderson. A prequel to the original Dune, it tells how the Rossak Sisterhood evolved into the Bene Gesserit.

The incident with Valya Harkonnen using the voice is from one called ‘Mentats of Dune’. The three books intertwine the development of the Sisterhood, the Mentats, the Navigators, and the Suk Doctors. I don’t want to criticize just the first episode of a TV show, but this one was just average on every level. The acting was sub-par, save for a few of the well-known actors like Mark Strong, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and maybe Travis Fimmel.
The story was very loose and the dialogue was not Dune-worthy
The rest of the cast looked like they were fresh out of the film academy or something. I love slow-paced dramas that take forever to unfold because I know the payoff is worth the wait. But this wasn’t just slow, there was a lot going on, but it was just plain boring, I don’t know how else to put it. The soundtrack that deviates in the movies was plagiarized a bit here, some familiar sounds popped up here and there, but it’s just that the timing wasn’t right.
My question is if you liked this being done
I heard a lot of music here that had no effect. I remember how long in the movies there were just people talking and suddenly Hans Zimmer would do his magic and I would get super excited. But I know he wasn’t involved in producing any sound and I don’t even have to check. I’m not sure Denis Villeneuve was involved in this production, I hope not.
Something to think about
Would an average TV show like this after two epic movies have an effect on the long-awaited third movie? The reason I’m wondering is because The Penguin was so good that it made me appreciate The Batman even more than I did after watching it and I can’t wait for the second movie. So how would Dune: Prophecy affect the third movie, if there is one?
